چکیده

Nowadays, food contamination by mineral oil (MO) is a very important issue and its presence in edible oils is widely documented. Mineral oils are hydrocarbons mixture of petrochemical origin containing mainly two families of compounds, namely mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH) and mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH). The most used approach for mineral oil analysis is liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to gas chromatography (GC) with ame ionization detection. Using a silica column, triglycerides can be retained and the separation of MOSH and MOAH can be achieved. However, in the case of vegetable oils, the presence of ole ns (mainly squalene and isomers) does not allow the correct quanti cation of the MOAH fraction. For such a reason additional tools are needed. In the present research, a silica column was coupled to a silver-ion column to retain ole ns. The proposed method was applied for the analysis of different edible oils, obtaining satisfactory performance characteristics.

Evaluation of mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH) and mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH) in pure mineral hydrocarbon-based cosmetics and cosmetic raw materials using

Mineral hydrocarbons consist of two fractions, mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH) and mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH). MOAH is a potential public health hazard because it may include carcinogenic polycyclic compounds. In the present study, 400 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was introduced, in the context of official controls, to measure MOSH and MOAH in raw ma...

Validation of an Analytical Method for Determination of 13 priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in mineral water using dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction and GC-MS

Dispersive liquid liquid microextraction (DLLME) combined with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) was used for the extraction and determination of 13 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in mineral water samples. In this procedure, the suitable combination of extraction solvent (500 µL chloroform) and disperser solvent (1000 µL acetone) were quickly injected into the water sample (...

Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Olive and Refined Pomace Olive Oils using HPLC/FLD

ABSTRACT: In this study, an analytical method is developed to determine 15 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in olive and refined pomace olive oils using HPLC coupled with a fluorescence detector. The standardised method of ultrasound-assisted solvent extraction consisted of liquid–liquid extraction with organic solvent and purification on C18 and Florisil bonded-phase cartridges was modi...
